What's In Store for 2009?

I've never been much of a resolution kind of gal, but this year I've looked around my house and at myself and decided it's probably time for some changes. I'm a big 'by the seat of my pants' kind of author and it seems I live that way as well. I am randomly organized with a lot of chaos mixed in.

To get things where (I think) I want them I sat down one night and made lists. Big lists. Long lists. Detailed lists of what I need to get done. The next thing I did was break these scary lists into manageable chunks of things I could get done each day.

My hopes for change for myself are:

1. more exercise and sunlight (I am attached to my laptop in my proverbial cave too much.)
2. a garden the kids and dogs can't destroy (5 dogs and 3 young boys vs. tomatoes, squash, and beans. It's obvious who will win this battle. Better fencing is in order.)
3. a clean house (I know, I know, I'm totally dreaming with this one. Did I mention the dogs and kids?)
4. all the WIPs in my desktop folder to be finished and on the way to publication. Yeah, that I can do. I have a whole year to get it done.

My hopes for my country and the world are still the same. World peace. (No, I'm not in a pageant.) A strong economy. And I wish everyone in the world would help someone else or do something in his or her community that would make the world a better place.

Now that I've gotten all nostalgic and philosophical, I'm gonna go down my coffee and work on resolution number 4.

A New Year

Time to start on those goals.

Lose weight, start my next book and learn to live in the moment.

Every year I plan out my calendar with everything I want to achieve in my writing career. The days I'm going to write, time spent promoting, and even when I plan to do my edits.

Sound like a planner?

Yes, I know, but for some reason my personal goal like living in the moment gets lost.

To broad?

Maybe, or I might get so busy in achieve my other goals I forget about the simple things like talking to my son while he eats his breakfast.

Yeah, now there's a goal.

Remember to take time for the things that are important to you outside of work.

Have an awesome new year,

Tina Gayle
